Build a Procurement Analytics Mart with dbt, DuckDB and Star Schema Design is a beginner-level product that builds a governed procurement analytics mart for a fictional discrete manufacturer — cleaning three raw CSV extracts, building a star schema, publishing four agreed KPIs, and routing every invalid row to a rejected records model with a reason code. No database server or admin rights required.
With this product, you'll build a dbt project that can:
- Load raw suppliers, PO lines, and goods receipts CSV files into DuckDB using dbt seed
- Stage and validate every row — flagging invalid records with typed reason codes (missing ID, duplicate PO line, negative quantity, and more)
- Build a star schema — dim_supplier, dim_date, and fct_po_line — with a declared grain and surrogate keys
- Publish four governed KPIs per supplier per month — total spend, on time delivery rate, fill rate, and average lead time
- Route rejected rows to a rejected_records model and verify full reconciliation with a singular test
- Generate a terminal KPI report and dbt documentation with a single command
