About this Product
A residential property manager with about 4,000 apartments relies on leasing agents to answer
tenant and applicant questions about lease terms, rent, renewals and service obligations. Agents
search long lease agreements and policy documents by hand, so answers are slow, inconsistent, and
sometimes quote the wrong lease or an outdated clause.
In this lab you build Clausewise Lease Copilot, a retrieval augmented question answering copilot over
a synthetic lease and policy corpus. You reject invalid documents at ingestion, split documents by
section with size and overlap, and store deterministic, idempotent chunks with metadata in a local
ChromaDB vector store. Questions can be limited to a single lease, and the copilot returns cited
answers only. It refuses when the evidence is missing or below the similarity threshold, and it
excludes expired leases unless they are explicitly requested.
You practise section aware chunking, metadata filtering, top k retrieval, citation validation, refusal
logic and LLM evaluation. A golden question set scores retrieval hit rate and MRR, plus
groundedness, must include coverage, citation validity and refusal correctness, in a deterministic
offline report. You also compare chunk size settings to explain why one configuration outperforms
another.
The lab is delivered as a command line tool and a small local HTTP API, with automated tests. By the
end you have a tested, evaluated RAG pipeline that you can explain in an interview and publish in
your portfolio.
