About this Product
A mid size insurer needs first notice of loss to reach settlement without duplicate payments, even when a downstream service fails.
What you build
- Five microservices: gateway, auth, policy, claims and settlement, each with its own PostgreSQL database.
- Claim lifecycle: first notice of loss through review, approval, denial and settlement, with every state change recorded.
- Event workflows: a RabbitMQ topic exchange with a transactional outbox, retries and a dead letter queue.
- React claims portal: role based screens for policyholders, adjusters and supervisors.
Skills you practise
- Distributed auth: RS256 tokens verified locally with published keys, plus roles and service tokens.
- Caching and resilience: a Redis policy cache with stale fallback, rate limiting and circuit breakers.
- Idempotent processing: duplicate claims and repeated events are detected so nothing is paid twice.
- Observability: correlation IDs, OpenTelemetry traces, Prometheus metrics and a Grafana dashboard.
